Bathroom UFH

First of many posts I'm sure but we're looking to put UFH heating into our bathroom.

Existing floor is carpet on normal floorboards. We're looking to put something like Devimat UFH system with a vinyl flooring.

What I'd prefer to do is not increase the height of the floor too much but obviously the floor needs to be insulated to stop the heating going downwards so what's the best method?

Can I fill the floor void with something and then replace the floorboards with some type of thermal insulation boards. Lay the UFH ontop with a minimal cover of self levelling compound and then the vinyl secured on top?

Any advice/experience gratefully received.

Yup.

I wouldn't get too anxious about the heat going downwards, but if you really wanted to I don't see why you couldn't put a layer of aluminium foil under the floorboards. As long as the floorboards are securely fastened down (with screws for example), then everything will be hunky dory.

Think I'll fill the void with some Polystyrene and then silver foil with the floorboards screwed tightly down.

Ok to use this for the silver foil?

I haven't encountered that stuff - looks a bit squidgy to me. Is it actually aluminium foil?

Think it's Buddle wrap with one side covered with Silver Foil.

Guessing by silver foil you don't mean the stuff I can get at Tescos, I need something a little thicker?
