Baths for the elderly

My 91 yo mum can't get in the bath easily so we think we should replace the bath with a large walk in shower . Has anyone had any experience of those baths with an opening door in the front and/or those shower modules claimed to be fitted in one day? I'm guessing they'll be rip-off companies and we'd be better to get a local plumber/bathroom specialist to fit a tray with a hinged glass door for easier access than a sliding one.

The only problem with a door on a bath would mean having to sit there stone cold whilst it empties before you can open the door.

I'd recommend a shower, with some type of seat and a non-slip floor.

You can get a shower unit with own electric shower or mixer shower valve and shower seat, it come with low level shower tray as well and half door and shower curtain.

This can be fitted by a local plumber and can sit in where bath used to be.

We're going to get an assessment done due to her various health issues before we proceed
