Bathtub drainage

Hi guys,

My bathtub was not draining so I took off the panel and cleared all pipes possible, after re connecting I poured a couple pints of water down to check it was clear and have noticed that it sits just below the part that you screw the plug hole into? I have attached a picture for reference, just wondering if this is normal? The water has not drained completely but did not spill onto the floor so must of gone through? Any help is much appreciated

Perfectly normal.That's the water sitting in the trap - if there wasn't a water seal then the bathroom would stink with foul air from the drains.

Thank you, just didn't want it to go wrong! I already messed up and ripped of the sealant! Just gotta seal it back now and then job done! Much appreciated
