Batten clips to provide a gap over membrane

Instead of leaving the membrane loose, has anyone ever heard of inserts or clips we could add to the battens to create a small gap between it and membrane right in between the rafters?

If you have a router you could run a lot of grooves into the underside of the batten.
Or just trap a length of cable (t & e or flex, not much odds) between batten and felt

Electrical conduit ..
Cutting batten will then render them outside of reg sizing

Sounds like you are talking counter batoning, if you are trying to keep it to a minimum then you could use 40mm pvc architrave, comes in 5m lengths.
