I am currently trying to batten an extremely un even brick bathroom wall, before cement boarding on top, as this wall is where the shower is going to go.
The shower pipes plus the uneven bricks is creating a nightmare to create a level surface that comes out far enough to clear the pipes.
I have been trying to chisel into the 2x4’s I’m using as battens so they are plumb but it’s still coming up as not level and taking ages.
I have seen people using packers to create the level however if I do this the bottom of the batten won’t be making any contact with the wall.
Any ideas or help would be appreciated.
