Hi,

New to this forum + clueless about plumbing etc..

So I had a fault with my boiler (no service plan & out of warranty).
I called up Baxi and they said it’s £417 for the service plan, or spread it across 12 months interest free and we can send an engineer out. If he can’t fix it, you can cancel & we won’t charge you the £99 call-out fee too.

He came, a rubber fitting had worn down and needed replacing that’s all (I wasn’t in dealing with him).

So I thought I’d call up and cancel my plan and just pay a call out fee + parts/labour etc.
Tried to cancel, told £381 to cancel. £350 alone is the call out fee!
I’m trying to dispute this figure. Any thoughts, help?

Thanks

Unfortunately they advertise their fixed price repair prices on there website this is whether it is a 5 quid part and ten minute fix or a couple of hundred quid part and a couple of hours its swings and rounabouts

Keep the plan and hope that you use it again within the 12 month period. Does that yearly plan include a service?

i take it , its a baxi 105he you have ?

There's no disputing it. You signed up to their service plan or whatever. The fact that it was a much easier fix than you expected isn't their problem. In fact, they rely on the majority of service plan fixes to be quick & easy in order to make money, and offset the cost of the odd one that is more than that.

Suck it up this time, and use a local independent engineer in future.

my thoughts
you have entered a year contract and by directly using the services within the normal cooling-off period you have agreed to waver the cooling-off period to use the cover so are now committed to the contract and anything else like a requirement to terminate the contract will be with financial consequences to terminate early

Thanks guys.
I was just disputing the initial fee of £99 or so call out fee to them now saying the call out fee is £350!

I also did use a local plumber initially and I bought genuine back parts to no avail. Hence why I called Baxi.
I will just have to make use of the plan for a year!
