Hi, first time user , hope someone can help me.
About 18 months ago when the summer came , I switched over from heat and water to just hot water , and found that the water from the taps would not get hot ! I switched back to heat and water and turned the taps on and it heated up fine ! So to keep us going until I could get it fixed , we left it switched over to heat and water , and turned the heat temp. selector down to minimum just to get us away ! Unfortunately I never got round to sorting it and now another problem has reared its head.
When calling for heat the burner ignites and a small flame is lit which then diminishes , but then tries to pick up again , then drops off again !It does this for about 5 or 6 attempts before firing into life with a strong flame which makes the flame sensor glow red. When the system is upto temp. the flame goes out as normal and then the process repeats itself when heat is required again! When calling for hot water to the taps it fires up imediateley with a strong flame !
Now the interesting thing is that when I fitted a new PCB , it refuses to fire up at all , and goes into flame failure mode( dhw is fine ) ! Whilst the new PCB was on I tried the hot water only setting , and it worked ! I have had to refit the old PCB just to get the heating working again ! Can anyone offer any help , why does it work in a fashion with the old pcb , but not at all with the new !! regards, bob.

I will have to start with the classic 'when was it last serviced'? I have had similar problems with these that have had the min/max burner pressures go out of calibration.

Then I would suggest your first course of action would be to get someone in for a service, but also tell them what problems you are having.

A good and proper service may, if you're lucky, go a long way towards curing at least some of the problem ;)
