Does any one know how much ventilation my boiler needs. The gas fire front is in a room with no ventilation in the walls. I want to have cavity wall insulation put in and the man said i needed a 5" core vent stent fiited first.

Is this right ? I never use the fire

The vent is not for the fire its for the backboiler which you do use ,
.
The 5 inch core vent will need a free area of 100cm2(will be marked on it) which is enough for back boilers the bermuda 552 needs 90cm2 and the bermuda 401 needs 66cm2

Thanks for advice
Where can i get one of these vents from any idea?
screw Fix?
As I am sure my husband could install it.
Thanks for help

BES did one for under £10 which can be fitted from inside, although you can get better ones that have a draught baffle in them, which still allow air in but cut the draught (no major shock there!!!!) a poorly positoned vent will end up getting blocked off again, depending on window type you could consider window slot vents as another option
