I have a baxi back boiler with some sort of problem and im just about to rip it out and get a combi but its so close to xmas im worried i wont be able to find somebody to install it in time.
My rads are not getting hot, they are hotish but not real hot,i want them so you cant keep your hand on them and giving off some heat,at the minute they just dont heat the house.
I have replaced all rads and all pipework as it was on microbore and i thought that was the problem, also replace the pump.
I have balanced the syastem and all rads heat up a lot faster now but they just dont get real hot.
The boiler will lite for around 5 mins then go out and come on every couple of mins for about 2 minutes, does this sound righ?
So i can only think the boiler is not staying on long enough ? nothing else it can be ?? right ?
There is no room stat, the boiler stat is on full and it must work because if i turn it up/down the boiler will lite or go off.
I have 8 rads on this boiler,i was told by the last owner of the house its just a couple of years old and the fireplace is still in the baxi book,so it cant be that old.
Can somebody please tell me if this boiler should be able to get 8 rads nice and hot ?
Should i still try and get this working, could it be something in the boiler ?
I have called everybody in my local free paper and guys out the yellow pages and still cant get anybody to look,i would love a warm house for xmas,i stayed up 3 night and worked throught the nigh doing all the pipework and now feel gutted that my new house is still so bloody cold !
Many thanks and merry christmas

Boiler thermostat.
Where are you - you never know...

hi Chris, thanks for the info,i thought the stat would be ok as from the calls i have made i have been told the stat will work or it wont.
So is it possible that the stat is faulty in way that it shuts the burner off too early ?
If this was the case it would be great news,im in Shrewsbury,Shropshire,i wish i was in the trade as i just cant find anybody to come out and have a look !
I think i will order a stat in the morning and give this one last go before i give up on it as im sure there must be a few years of life left in this boiler yet.
Many Thanks
Robert

If your replacing the stat you'll need to remove the fire front, So why don't you pull out the thermostat phial and see if the boiler stays on longer and if the rads get hotter this will tell you if the stat is faulty
