My mother's boiler, still just under guarentee, has two problems. Any suggestions/solutions? The upset is making her ill and she is about to ask for a replacement boiler as it's still (just) under guarentee and has been nothing but trouble since it was installed (was looking at their maxiflow one though from your site it seems this could still bring problems!). If she could she'd go back to the old system (non combi) but I gather that's not a viable alternative (no tank in loft now, pipework changed etc etc).
For info the boiler is on the wall in the garage. The pipe leading to the kitchen and upstairs goes up into the ceiling.
Problem 1 - the pressure continually drops and she has to keep turning the tap on the boiler to top it up (up to twice a week). Problem 2 The hot water is not hot enough and inconsistent. (the central heating is fine).
The baxi engineers came again recently and and changed the expension tank. I don't think this has improved anything although the pressure has since remained more contant before suddenly plummetting (before it was a steady drop). No leaks are in evidence.
In response to a letter of complaint the installer has also just returned and said that the mains stop cock was open fully and that was the reason the water didn't get properly hot. He has turned it down a bit. When he tested the hot water by the boiler (tap in garage) he said it was fine and all lights doing as they should on boiler.
The current situation is that when trying to get hot water in the kitchen (and elsewhere) the water takes quite a while to warm up, then begins to run hot(ish) for a few secs, then runs stone cold for ages. After several bowlfulls/retries it eventually gets hot.
Help!
