A Baxi HE 50 Plus is locking out the ignition, but only during cold/humid spells. When the boiler is cold there is a sound of the gas igniting normally and the ignition light goes on for a few seconds, but after that it cuts out.

So there is no problem in warm weather, and in cold weather the gas still seems to ignite, but the boiler shuts off the gas. Any thoughts as to the cause and the solution?

If the boiler is cutting off the gas then that's a gas issue which we don't advise on here.

The advice is to call a competent boiler engineer.

That makes a lot of sense, and I can see that it's a good policy.

So far, I have asked a Gas Safe Registered engineer to look at the boiler but he didn't really get to the root of the problem (he replaced the spark electrode). He took about 2 hours, so I'm reluctant to go back to him. Are there any suggestions about how to take it forward?
