A friend of ours is looking to get uPVC sash windows installed in their front bay (I know, wood is better, but you can't convince everyone).

They have been told that they cannot have the sash in the middle section as it would be wider than 1.3m wide, which would breach regulations, and sag.

Is this correct? I have seen other uPVC sashes in the area, and they look fine (well, they still look plasticy, but they don't sag), although of course I haven't walked around with a tape measure in my pocket and knocked on random people's houses to measure their windows.

We've fitted sliding sash windows over 1300 mm wide before...what manufacturer are they using .... think 1500-1600 wide was the widest we've gone up to.

Don't know the manufacturer. Might it be that their reinforcing bar is adequate?
