Hi there,

I have just had my carpets taken up and had the original floorboards sanded. They look great but as usual a can of DIY worms have been opened.

The problem I have no is that there is a 3mm gap between the floors and bottom of skirts that are unsightly. I have been advised that should re-paint and get some white beading to pin on. Sounds like good advice, just not sure how to do it. i.e, what sort of saw i use and how i cut the joints. Furthermore, do i use tacks or glue or something else?

Thanks in advance.

Dave

Narrow and thin strip of timber - run a bit of nonails along it and push into place. Have a few panel pins to tap in any bits of the run that "pop out" - there's no need to drive these in all the way since they can be removed once the glue has gone-off. Bit of caulk in the corner and paint over, making sure you run masking tape along the bottom edge to protect the floorboards. (always worth priming the strips with quick drying primer/undercoat before you put them in place - only one "opportunity" to spill paint on the floor then)
