Stone resin is rather brittle & must be fully supported over the entire base or there is a good chance it will crack. The best easiest way to do this is to bed on a dryish, weak mix sand/cement mortar & most stone resin tray manufacturers make this a condition of their warranty.
Ive seen fitters use Carlite bonding to bed them with no come backs, seems dodgy to me but seems to work....any imput?....
Though Id agree with what richard c recommends!!
Not sure about bedding it on Bonding. It will support the tray for sure but gypsum plaster isn’t meant to be under a constant pressure loading; Bonding is also a comparatively soft plaster & I’ve no idea how it would stand the test of time.
People bed resin trays on all sorts of things & whilst many may be OK, it’s just as easy to stick with the manufacturer’s instructions by using a weak render mix, why void the warranty by using plaster! Only reason I can think of is that you happen to have one & not the other & can’t be bothered to go down the local shed!
