Hi my dads dishwasher all works fine and washes fine but makes quite a loud noise throughout the cycle, any ideas where to start looking?

Is it a "rattling" noise? If yes & it happens when pumping out then it sounds like a piece of glass in the drain pump. If it happens on a wash cycle it could be a piece of glass in the wash motor....or the wash motor impellor is damaged.
That sounds quite helpful. For washing machines I've heard that you should check that the floor is flat and solid and that the appliance is level and balanced - but I'm guessing that might not apply to dishwashers as they probably don't move too much as with a fast spinning washing machine.
