Hi,

My Beko DVS04X20W isn't draining. Only two years old, very disappointing.

I can't get the filter out but I will work on that, the manual isn't very clear about how to do it.

What I have done is disconnect the drain hose from where it joins the main drainage system under the kitchen sink. I tried to blow down it but it won't let me. Maybe that indicates that the drain hose is blocked? Or maybe it indicates that there is a valve to prevent backflow which is working correctly? Can somebody tell me what if any conclusion I can draw.

Many thanks,

David

Hi,

Some progress.

I got the filter out, some slight gunge but nothing serious.

I tipped up the machine and a lot of water came out. After that I have been able to start a wash cycle, but I don't know yet if it is going to drain.

There's something in the drain pipe.
A kid's sock is what I found on more than one occasion.
Don't know how they get there, but they do.
I have an endoscope with a hook at the tip, saved the day in such situations.
If you don't have one you could use a socket cable 2.5mm² with one wire stripped and bent to make a hook.
Worked for me the first time.

Hi,

When the wash cycle ended it failed to drain. There was a little bit of a trickling noise, but it was feeble and barley audible. It certainly did not sound like a pump working at full blast whilst pushing against a blocked drain house.

Is there a way to check the drain house?

(BTW it is a dishwasher, hence very unlikely to have been blocked by a sock. Bits of food maybe but not a sock).

they get blocked with fat, run a hot cycle with it empty and a charge of washing soda in the dispenser for the dishwasher detergent.

I sponged out all the water I could see. Then I disconnected the drain house and sucked on it. There was a gurgling noise from the dishwasher and water came up the hose, what does this indicate? Maybe that the hose or somewhere inside the machine is a bit blocked but not completely blocked? Or does it mean that everything is clear in the hoses but that the pump is jammed? Or something else?

Is the hose connected correctly with waste? (Enters from above connector )?

I'm not sure what you mean. But it is connected to the same place that it has been connected to for the last twenty years. The dishwasher in question is only 2 years old, the last one lasted at least twice as long.

The hose goes from the bottom of the machine up to a height of about 80cm, then down to join the drain under the sink at about 45cm. It joins the drain from the sink above the U-bend-trap thing.

It won't let me start a cycle in the normal way. But if I bring the machine out and tip it up so that a load of water comes out then I am able to start it. I'm going to try a hot cycle.

BTW recently I started using coconut fat for cooking, which is a liquid above 70ish degrees, and I have been using "econ 50" on the washing machine. Will stop using the coconut fat, it might be responsible? And it has a strong taste.

As said, happened to find socks in the pump and drain pipes a few times.
