Hi,

Our Beko DW663 top rack is not cleaning properly as the top arm does not always spin.

I've cleaned all the filters at the bottom of the dishwasher, cleaned the arm, checked the pipes going to the top rack for blockages and ensured the top rack connecter to the top pipes securely.

I've also checked there is no kink in the connection hose and drain hose.

We've recently had a water softener installed. The dishwasher issue did not start straight away after this was installed but happened soon after.

The pressure is still really good, for example we have a combi boiler and this is still working fine, but I was wondering if the water softener may be the issue. I can't see why it would as the dishwasher fills then the pump kicks in.

Does anyone have any suggestions what to try next? Could it be a pump issue? Or maybe the dishwasher does not fill up quicker enough as there is a timed fill process?

Thanks

Adam

Adding more water to the bottom during a rinse cycle didn’t help!!

Does the arm spin freely when pushed?

If you open the door mid-cycle when the pump is running, is just the bottom arm spinning / slowing down or are both spinning?

Can the upper arm be removed and the jets checked for blockages? Is the socket that it fits in obviously showing signs of the water reaching it?

Thanks Harry.

The bottom arm spins fine and everything cleans well on the bottom rack.

I've checked for blockages in the upper arm, its looks good. Water does come out of the top rack arm but like a very weak fountain. Not enough to spin the arm round.

There is also a 3rd arm on the ceiling of the dishwasher for a small additional cutlery tray. This arm does not spin, no water reaches this anymore.

I can only think the pump has lost power/pressure somehow

I wonder if pressure is being lost via a leak - be careful, but could you perhaps find a way to get it to run with the door partially open to check for internal leaks. Maybe the seal has failed on the bottom arm allowing too much water to pass though the side of the lower arm. If the arms unplug, try unplugging the bottom one, and temporarily blocking its socket, to force more water up to the top.

I’ve taken the dishwasher out today and had a good look. Not signs of a leak anywhere.

Tried running the dishwasher with the bottom arm removed and the fill to the lower arm blocked. Still didn’t work.

I can only think the pump has lost its pressure or something?!

£70 on a new pump that might not fix it. Might be time for a new dishwasher

With the washer running, there should be plenty of pressure and noise of water flowing. If there is good flow and pressure at the bottom, there should be good pressure at the upper arm, unless there is a blockage in the pipe linking the two.

If there is obviously not enough pressure at the bottom and the pump is running, then I would be looking at the intake to the pump or outlet from the pump for a blockage rather than the pump itself being faulty.

Pull the unit right out, unclip and check each pipe is clear and check the pump itself for obstructions. Might it have been run at some time without the filter fitted, allowing large lumps of debris to get in?

I took all the pipe work apart, no blockage everything seems fine. I figured it had to be the diverter valve as this did not look set in the right position. Replaced this for £25 but no luck.

The new diverter valve position doesn't change position. For now I've put the diverter valve in to the best position to feed water to the bottom & top racks until I order a new dishwasher.

The dishwasher might need a reset but I can't find anything on the net that resets this model as it has an LED display and not 5 leds
