Hi all,

We've had a Beko washing machine for just over 3 years and it's worked fine, last few days though a couple of times the clothes have been dripping wet at the end of the cycle.

When this happened the other day I put it on "Spin and drain" and it spun the clothes dry no problem. Assumed it was a blip

Tonight however this hasn't worked after a few times of trying. After paying more attention it looks like the drum isn't spinning very fast at all; it does a few slow turns, then stops and goes back the other way.

I've checked the filter and there were some hairs clogged in there but nothing major. It's not making a great noise either as far as I can tell. Video below of the sound, and what the filter bit looks like with the trap removed while it's on

Think I need a plumber ..or straight to a new machine?

I'd hazard a guess, the pump is kaputt, but you'd be better off asking on the Appliances page. Will try and alert the Mods, they'll kindly move it for you.

That pump isn't too bad, a bit worn but it's running the way it should and running it with the sump plug out then it's always noisy.

If the machine only short spins back and forth and doesn't spin up then I'd hazard a guess that it's either the motor isn't switching up or the programmer isn't activating that switch up. Either or it's an engineer visit I would think.

@itfcjim, wrong forum ;)

Plumber couldn't help with a washing machine not being able to/ going into a spin

Whoops! Well I'm sure they'd do a better job than I'm managing to do! Thanks for the tip, will try and get the thread moved

It might be worth checking out the brushes on the motor.

Our washing machine (a Beko WM5100W) stopped spinning when it was loaded, but it worked ok during the test program.

I picked up new brushes on eBay for about £5 and they were relatively easy to change and only took about 20 minutes.

But our washing machine is about 10-15 years old, and I can't see a new machine wearing out its brushes so quickly.

Your description sounds like you are having unbalanced load problems. Have you started putting in any particular item that would hold a lot of water?

Wow. I've never heard of this before.

I just put a few towels in with the rest of the wet load, and it has spun them out!

*Hopefully* you're right and that has sorted it! I'll cancel the order for the new machine

Thanks so much - and thanks everyone for your replies
