If I changed the plug to a 3-pin euro plug, do you think there would be any problems? Apart from not getting the insurance protection they guarantee of course!

Why, are you going to be using it outside of the UK? I can't see a problem with it, but why are you doing it in the first place?
Yes, taking it to Spain and continue to use the UK plug for my IT equipment.
It should be fine with the voltage rating in Spain.

Sounds like a good idea to me, lots of hifi people abroad actually go to the extent of fitting UK socket outlets in their houses, because the european plugs are so crap - the next best thing to this is to get it down to just one crap connection, rather than several.

Good point there though I will be renting for the first year or two but I will bear that in mind when we buy!
I'd just take a couple of double surface mounted boxes out there chap.

why not make your own extension lead, euro plug - UK socket
Coz the euro plugs are crap, particularly the earth, hence bypassing it completely.
