I have a new kitchen tap to install with screw in tails which are parallel with no space between them. They are 10mm at the tap, and 15mm at the open end.

The instructions say bend the tails to allow clearance for compression fittings - what is the best way to do this? - obviously you only get one chance!

First attach the tails to the tap and install the tap.

Then, with one hand, hold together the section of tails near the tap end, and prise apart the bottom of the tails with the other.

You don't need to prise them apart more then an inch or so - enough to get fittings onto them. It will be fairly easy, but the objective is to do it without straining the joint at the taps.

Thanks Softus,

It's really one of those jobs you have to attack confidently - anyway your technique worked perfectly :)
