Lots, I recently used fixing foam, accommodates uneven walls and even holes in the walls, goes off in 20mins, quicker in this weather, any spillage is left and can easily be cut away. Also Fixall from Soudal is also very good.
What non-carpentry people often don't understand is that with any grip fill-type adhesive the product will tend to skin somewhat (especially in warm weather) and that you need to break the skin by rubbing the skirting back and forth a little as you position it rather than just applying pressure as you would with most contact adhesives. In other words there's a knack. It also won't adhere well to loose/flaky surfaces, plaster which hasn't fully dried, gloss-painted surfaces or masonry which still has a lot of loose mortar or isn't that smooth. It is, however, miles cheaper than fixing foam - important when you install miles of the stuff every year like we do
On my last project we used over three gross of tubes of GripFill which makes quite a difference in price. There's also the issue of fire rating compliance to deal with on certain types of build, especially with the current paranoia over many building products
