Hi,

My handrail/bannister is currently finished with a gloss/shiny varnish finish - but this has worn away in places, and also there are paint flecks on it.

I would like to lightly sand down and re-coat with clear, shiny/gloss varnish. But it must be hard wearing and leave a smooth finish.

I've heard bad things about Ronseal - what should I use?

Thanks
R

I know that some of their products can appear to be inferior, but not all. Take a look at Ronseal Ultra Tough, this is a solvent borne coating that will offer you good results.

Fair enough, thanks...I've specced solvent only varnish - so for that purpose at least that Ronseal product fits.
