Hi All
With regards to my other post (Problems with halstead boiler) I have now decided to bite the bullet and buy a new combi.
Any ideas or recommendations would be appreciated

dont buy a cheap one. Consider a system boiler with unvented cylinder!

Viessman PR stinks. I had to make three calls to Viessman for local supplier to be given a number each time. Nada. Then they gave me their sister companies number where the salesman spke very highly of their boiler and promised to email me boiler prices. That was some four weeks ago. I have to date, recieved zero. So much for a great boiler but c*ap service. They can keet their Viessman. Have quoted an Ecomax coupled with weather compensated prog stat.

"" I have to say the new Potterton Promax Combi HE is superb ""

If I had said that Kev (!) would have deleted it as "advertising", even though its not "blatent advertising" as mentioned in the "rules" ( which should be guidelines )!

It will always be cheaper to repair your existing boiler. There are a very wide range of new condensing boilers on offer now. The real decision is perhaps whether to buy a cheaper one now and expect to replace it with a later design in maybe 5-6 years time or to pay a lot more now and hope that it will work for 8-12 years.

I do have to say my preference for my own property would be to get a cheaper one now and replace it sooner with the latest next generation. But then I would be fitting it myself so the economics are different.

Your boiler (H quattro) shouldn't be too diff to get going as well as it ever did. Sounds like you may have a dirty system, which would need a proper clean anyway.
Diverter valves same as on that boiler are still in use, they don't normally fail as often as yours so system gunge may be doing it.

If you need more HW or fancy a more efficient boiler OK, but otherwise get a powerflush, sort the boiler and see how it goes.

Thanks for your input guys.
The hot water flow rate is not that great on my existing boiler, so thats one of the reasons for changing it also.

Been advised that the Eden CBX 32 by Halstead is a good choice, any feed back on these?

Once again thanks for the input.

The spec looks good but at the end of the day its still a minority boiler. ( Sorry John W. Cannot fully recommend them as your sec failed to put us on the service list even after a reminder ! )

Many would suggest you go for a mainstream boiler. I dont "recommend" any particular boilers because there are a lot of good boilers in the market and they all have their place.

In any case a VERY positive recommendation would in my view constitute "blatent advertising" which is banned by the rules ( should be guidelines ) of this website and give Kev a genuine reason to delete my posting.
