not for me... but i need to treat the kids (good parents evening etc).. so anyone have an idea of what the latest 'hip' kit is?
The xbox 360 and the (original) PS3 are nothing like the same. In hardware terms the PS3 is far far superior, trouble is games are pretty much written to a lowest common denominator, in this case the xbox, so don't make use of the PS3 far superior hardware.
Other things to note, the PS network is / was free (and i think secure now) the PS has a blu ray player included, and is nothing like as noisy as an xbox. the PS is also as pointed out upgradeable (as for surfing the net ... well)
I have both a PS3 and an Xbox 360.
The PS3 also looks better
However if my lad wanted one it would probably be a Xbox first as all his mates have one although i would try to convince him otherwise as his mate have an Xbox.

you havent got a PS3...you dont half chat sh*t!
AS is right, depends on the kids ages....Xbox games seem to be aimed at older kids....unless you go for the kinect thingy, Sony seem to have the younger kids market covered.....then of course theres the Wii to consider.....
i still have my old SNES....but no lead to connect it to the telly
also have the Xbox 360....but only have yukky zombie games for that!

Just because its at the kids house doesn't a) mean i didn't buy it and b) i dont know its specs.... I do, it is FAR more powerful than an xbox.
Don't get a Wii, it's a family console or for small kids.
