I currently have an old Metrel Alphatek 61557. It throws a bit of wobbly sometimes (like now) and will not measure below 0.5 Ohm. Display just says <0.5Ω

Thinking of changing it for a reliable second hand unit a bit newer but need something that is compatible with the latest requirements.

What would you recommend?

Cheers!

Recommendations will most likely just be personal choice. I like Fluke but nothing wrong with Metrel.
Have read lots of queries saying Megger don't do some things very well - no trip Zs for example.

You can stand or sit on the Fluke box. :)

Anyway, that seems a strange "fault" - almost like it is supposed to do that for some reason or setting when below range.
Like >999MΩ.

Yeah, I can't make it out. But I'd rather not put "<0.5Ω" on paperwork!
Which Fluke did you have/ have you got?

I’m still going with my mighty metrel! I work for companies who use fluke and megger. I really can’t get on with the fluke, but really like the megger stuff and will be definitely looking at one when the need arises.

I’m told that kewtech is a pretty decent tester for the money. I see them a lot on big sites as they are cheap to replace when they inevitably get lost / smashed / stolen by people using kit which they don’t personally own.

Great, thanks.
Not sure I will be able to sit on the box!!! But never mind!

I'll have a look at Megger too, thanks Rob.
