Best most effective way of cleaning a Kettle?

Our kettle just blew up and have just been given a standard electric kettle (Plastic etc- ) (Moulinex Fastboil) from a friend..

It works great but just wanted the best way of cleaning the insides?

Does anyone have any good tips? ie: Vinegar etc? or boiling some liquid inside to remove the grime?

white vineger half a bottle boil it the leave to stand they empty and boil more water job done
