would I get a better shower with a 9.7 kw electric unit or connecting it to my combi boiler?
Any thoughts?

let's suppose your combi boiler is about 30kW, so three times as much power as your electric shower.

Guess.

The only advantage is that the electric shower is a secondary source of hot water incase the boiler fails. Personally I would only use it as a backup.

Note to self... Make that a thing.

I agree the maths seems compelling! I had formed the idea that combis were pretty well universal these days and yet electric showers seem so common too. Hence my doubt. As for "backup", if my boiler fails I will defo be focussed on that and not worrying about taking showers! :D

Thanks for replies.
