I've a vertical crack where a porch joins the house. I'm happy there's nothing untoward causing the crack so want to rack out some of the mortal and repoint.

Question is what tool is best for raking out in a corner? Angle grinder seens too messy and difficult to control. A TCT Mortar Raking Chisel (18218) perhaps?

Bolster chisel. That mortar will fall out

And use polysulphide mastic to repoint, not mortar

Are you suggesting the mastic because because you suspect there may be future movement or should it have been used initially?

Personally I think you're making hard work for yourself. I'd simply Polysulphide over the crack
