Hi,
I'm putting new kitchen wall cupboards in my kitchen.
The units came without corner brackets at the bottom, so I'm adding some.

As one particular cupboards takes quite a bit of weight, I want to make sure I use the best screws for melamine / chipboard.

Max length 16mm - bracket holes are 3mm.

I have hundreds of screws from 1" and above, but nothing this small.

I've even looked at 'drawer runner' screws, where I'd need to drill a pilot hole, but as the diameter is bigger, I wondered if they'd be better for this application.

So, what is the best type of screw for this please ?

many thanks in advance

fairly pointless really the screws locate the bracket and stop the cabinet sliding off and little more

on the bottom the weight will tend to pull the cupboard off the bracket

Thanks for the link.
I have looked at lots of 'specialist' suppliers, but so far to Noah Vale.
I'll add an image here, because I think some readers are confused by me quest:

All I want to do, is make sure I have the best screws for the job.

So you think you need extra brackets there because.....?

no we all fully understand
we are just telling you its pointless :D

You would be better off with extra support UNDER the bottom of the cupboard, if it's really that heavy.

If you really want to use those brackets, drill through the bottom of the cupboard and bolt through.

What are you storing? Gold bullion!!!
I have a 600mm wall cupboard that holds all our day to day crockery, about 20 dinner plates, 15 side plates, 15 medium sized plates, 12 dessert bowls, 10 soup bowls about 15 glass and china baking dishes as well as various other glass and china oddments on top and that's been hung on the standard brackets for about 15 years now. Another 600mm cupboard that is rammed top to bottom front to back with tins of food which has also survived the same time.

Thank you all for your input.

I'm sorry guys, I don't agree with your comments.
If I want to do the job, then it isn't a pointless exercise.
The point of using the best type of screws for the job, was to help eliminate the bottom ripping off he bracket.
I do appreciate your time in replying though.

Others:
It's only a kitchen cupboard. It also has lots of crockery as well as lots of flours & sugars, and other kitchen utensils etc (As I'm disabled I tend to buy lots of things at a time to save shopping trips)
It's wickes one, so maybe not as strong as some better ones.
The old one had 4 corner brackets, and lasted well.

Maybe I'm just over egging the pudding, but as I'm disabled, I don't want to re hang them any time soon.

I looked into the brands mentioned, and did buy some chipboard screws from Screwfix, and getting on with the job.

This brings me onto another point, that of gauge vs mm in the thicknesses.

I didn't want to drill the bracket holes bigger (or I would have at a pinch).
The ones I bought were size 4 - Gauge (although they don't actually say 'gauge'). Whilst looking further, I decided to look for a chart with comparisons.

Wow - almost everything I saw on the internet, had different comparisons - example 4mm, to between 6 & 9 g.

Of course this doesn't help a newbie.

Anyway guys, I thank you all for your time and advice.
