Hello,
I am in the process of putting a very heavy raised chicken coop together. I've fixed some extra wood along the base and i'm not sure the best way to connect the posts. The first way would make life easier but then i wonder can 4 screws in each post support the weight above (very heavy coop, i'd say at least 100kg). The OSB that makes the floor isn't very strong so i'm thinking (in method 1) none of the weight should be pushing down on the top face of the post from the OSB, just the screws on the sides from the support beams. For method two the weight would be pushing directly on the top face of the post which seems like it would be more structurally sound.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
