Hi guys and gals,

I've read similar posts but still unsure of this and would appreciate input and wisdom.

Question - Best way to fix sister joist solely for fixing plywood subfloor to when joist runs under a wall and only accessible from one side?

Details:
I'm redoing a small bathroom (2.3x1.9m) on the first floor of a 1960's house. 150x50mm joists at 475mm centres. Usual few notchings for pipes etc.

There has been water damage behind the bath so some floor boards are having to go. There are also some very dodgy looking floorboard cutouts under the bath which leave several floor board ends "hanging" with no support at one end (and this is under the bath!) and so have given way.

I'm replacing all floor boards with 18mm ply (will have 6mm Jackoboard tile backer and tiling on top). The problem is the joist at the far end of the room is directly under the partition wall (lightweight hollow brick) and so the top is not accessible to fix ply directly on top. Cant access other side of joist to use bolts and nuts.

I'm thinking about using polyurethane or expanding foam adhesive and LOTS of Turbogold 5x90mm screws to attach a 45x100mm sister joist so I can fix the ply to this. Sufficient?

I could use 10mm coach screws but only come in 80 or 100mm and I dont know if anything fixed to other side of joist.

Cheers for advice.

Joe
