Hi

what methods do people use to ensure they have the correct amount of seed or fertiler that they are going to sow in m2.

eg, if i need to sow 50g/m2 how do i know i actualy have that much?

This may seem a dim question but could i just weight it on some kitchen scales then divide area into metres using string?

No need to divide the whole lot up. You can mark up a sample, and scatter seed thinly over it so you know how many handfuls/metre (or metres/handful) is about right. Then preferably, scatter at half that rate, then go over it again to scatter the second half. That way any irregularity will tend to be evened out.

This method is especially suitable for grass seed and granular fertiliser where you are covering a large area.
