Best way to Hide Scratches on Wallpaper

Hi All,

Daughter moves out on the 15th Jan, We need to Hide some Scratches on Previously painted Wallpaper. What is the Best Paint to Use?

That’s more than a few scratches, I don’t think youlll cover that with paint. How did that happen?

Yes, it was a Cat.....I thought about trying to “seal” the Scratches with some sort of Polyfila & then to gently Sand Down when Dry, & Paint with a “Thick” Paint to try & Mask?

But unsure of what Paint to Buy, which would fit the Bill?

A ready mixed lightweight filler like "Red devil One time" might be worth a try - it's a soft finish so you could shape it as it goes on and then rub with a brush when dry. Ordinary emulsion will do fine as a finish

Hi, Thanks for the reply...Can the "Red Devil One Time" be purchased from the Main DIY Stores, like B & Q, Wicks etc?

Aparently so But a generic Lightweight Readymixed will be fine - you'll know it's right when you pick up the tub- feels like it's empty.

Yep, Just checked the B & Q Web-Site & it's there......Is it best to use a Spreader or Wet-Knife?

Anything really - maybe even a finger and work the filler in with a brush. It must be stirred up before use though. Apply dry and then maybe something damp- sponge/brush to shape it . Just play around with it

I would try working it into the cracks as said with a paint brush. Surley if you put it on with a spreader and sand, it will fill the valleys and grain of the pattern which will stick out like a sore thumb?
