Afternoon ,

Just thought I’d ask you guys for suggestions on how I should rebuild this little section of the wall?

It’s approximately 1 brick length wide and single width

There’s a piece of 4x2 which acts as a lintel for a cupboard door and on top of the brick work the is a joist which at one point I think the joist rested on the bricks but pretty much all the mortar is gone.

I was thinking

1- wood post 8x4 and tie it to the brick work below and to the joist
2 - rebrick it same size but would have to be stack bond?
3 - make it 1/2 brick wider and do a running bond of 1 full and 1/2 brick wide??

I’m sure there are more ways to sort it then this and what I’m thinking may not even be the best what do you guys think?

Thanks
Jake

You could form a small timber frame to save messing about with bonding in bricks.

It looks like you can get a vertical timber fixed to the wall in enough places, with a vertical end timber and a few small noggins between them. Then board across and lap that onto the face of the wall then patch with some bonding or one coat then skim across onto the board.

Thanks again woods … after removing the brick work on the pic timber is definitely the way to go thanks
