This paint is past its best and is now peeling in places so looks horrible.
However, I have tried all ways to get it off,to prepare the surface for a repaint but after trying sanding ( just moves the surface about a bit )
Heat gun ( just leaves a sticky mess ) Nitromorse ( not a lot of effect) and scraping ( very hard work) It now looks REALLY horrid. How do I get this stuff off? Its like plastic !!

I would have thought just scraping then sanding would have been enough.

Apart from you finding this hard work, what is the problem?

You use the word 'plastic'. How do you mean exactly?

I can't see any point removing any sound paint, if you're going to paint over it. As long as everything is sanded, and nicely feathered in where paint has flaked, that should be good enough.

Its the very smelly oil based version.
I have decided to get someone in to do the painting for me so I can let them worry about it.. Ive had enough.
