Hi all,

Somewhere amongst moving house and building work our dining room table has suffered some damage to the leg as pictured.

What's the best way to go about repairing it?

In my mind I would remove the metal staple at the top, apply wood glue in the gap, use a rubber mallet to tap it all back together then possibly put 2 screws diagonally from underneath where they won't be seen to hold it all firm whilst the glue goes off.

Thanks
Chris

It needs knocking apart completely, removing all the wood chips that will get in the way on reassembly, then it needs re gluing especially the dowels.

You might want to carefully hammer in a timber wedge top and bottom, from the inside to ease it apart - if you just wiggle the leg, you risk damaging the dowels.

It looks like it has alignment biscuits which have broken - Id be surprised if they were std beech biscuits as that’s not generally a method used in mass manufacture, but if they are ste you can buy them from Screwfix, probably size 20.
