Hi, have some '30's pitch pine doors and some new light oak veneered doors which I want to stain to a medium colour closer to the medium coloured walnut floor, finishing with a low sheen finish (not matt, more silk/satin) whats the best way of doing this? Ideally with a low-maintenance finish.
So far my builder/chippie colleagues have suggested cuprinol all-in-1 shed stain/protector, fake woodgrain effect paint and lobbing the doors cos "you can get new pine wickes doors for 30 quid"
I don't think they understand the kind of finish I'm after lol... I see many options water/oil based, various application methods plus varnish/wax/oil etc, whats relatively easy to apply while looking pretty authentic?
