Best way to widen my garden gate/wall?

I need to widen my garden gate to accommodate a motorcycle. It is currently 750mm and I am looking to go up to 900mm.

My only problem is that the gap is too narrow and must be widened.

My first idea was simply take a 300mm saw, cut 150mm off the wall and reaffix the posts.

Idea two was get my SDS drill and chisel out the mortar/pointing and turn the end bricks 90° and repoint.

Thoughts?

Why don't you hang the gate on the inside, no need to cut brickwork down.

It has been a consideration. The gap is 30mm narrower than the desired gate, but I guess it's possible. I just wondered if it would look off, be insecure or attract attention due to looking like it has been messed with.
