Whilst driving your expensive BMW you notice a battered mini bus or old bangor (not the wife) in front of you, the driver repeatedly keeps looking back at you, whats wrong with that you may ask? well what you dont know is that the little s**t has disconnected his brake lights, and is looking and checking there are no witnesses.
He then SLAMS ON HIS BRAKES and hey presto, you have been had, he will blame you for the accident and claim compensation and sue you for the damaged back or neck injury which you caused.

WHAT A WONDERFUL WORLD WE LIVE IN, if it ever happens to me, I will just follow the guy home and invite myself and my fifteen mates from Liverpool in for a nice cuppa.

YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED

If you hit him, you were too close anyway - your fault.

Brake lights are good and obviously there for a reason, but if you suddenly became aware that the distance between you and the vehicle in front was rapidly decreasing and you were too late to stop, then there wasn't enough distance to start with.

It's his fault for stopping suddenly.

By law it's the one behind's fault, thats the way the cops would see it anyway. But haven't said that if the car you hit had no break lights and stop suddenly, for no reason, then it's all up in arms regarding who's at fault, after venting my anger out with the driver in front, if it was me i would hope the cops would take my side and say the other car was not road worthy and was driving in a dangerous manner.

Sorry guys I forgot to mention, the little git re connects the brake lights afterwards and as I have already said puts the blame totally on you saying you were driving too close and too fast, Remember there are no witnesses.
Incidently the police do not get too involved in damage only road traffic accidents unless there is a fatality, and in this scammers case, he has already made a sharp exit before the police arrive.
The Police leave it up to the Insurance companies as they have more Important things to deal with like going to mcdonalds for a big mac.

HAPPY MOTORING!!!

Or unless the crash is that bad, and it endangers other road users, in which the cops will attend, and investagate what happend.

This is not always the case. See other thread on Accidents.

Also, I had an accident in 1985 where the driver in front deliberately slammed his anchors on. He had a (then) brand new Granada - the first car with ABS as standard. Anyhow, TCALSS, I went to the police (there was a patrol car behind me) and complained he had braked deliberately. They said I had grounds for complaint, so disputed liability and the case went to court. He eventually admitted doing it after the judge warned him he would be jailed if he persisted in lying in court.

This is also INCORRECT. If there is any injury, police are bound to attend RTA's.

Agree 100% - with a 2s gap on dry roads, 3s on wet, this tactic won't work.

And if you suspect it is being used - call the police on your mobile and report the vehicle.

As long you ring hands free btw, other wise you will be breaking the law just as bad as the one you are reporting the police. ;)

We have a laugh?? counting the hand helds we see in use .. unbelievable, Plush limo's, hgv's, vans, women with kids aboard. Guess what? most of 'em are overtaking above the speed limit while using !!
Gimme a camera van and I reckon I could put half of the west country off the road in 3 months max... I know who likely does it, and where they do so.
Go on Chief C .... Give me the kit .. If you have the nerve.
:D :D :D
