BG 3* contract.

My mum is thinking about signing up to 3 * BG service plan costing £180 per year which covered all parts inside the combi boiler and all radiators,This was done over a phone call but they are coming round to do a survey.I have read somewhere on this forum but can't find it,I was under the impression the 3* plan do not cover heat exchanger and radiators or have I got it wrong.Beside the point ,is this worth having ?

Only today completed repairs to a system that has BG 3* cover. The client has had numerous BG engineers all with different ideas why the installation was malfunctioning. Pilot outage was put down to boiler overheating when in fact this facility does not exist on the boiler in question. The client was told that the system will have to be powerflushed else no cover could be given.

If it is peace of mind you are looking for, then ask friends and relatives who they use.

you did read right about the heat exchanger NOT being covered, (i mentioned it, as we had ours changed) but apart from a few cold days (awaiting parts over week end) i like the service

heat exchanger is not covered for scale.I have changed a few split ones under contract though. As far as having numerous BG men to try to sort out a problem, I can't argue with that but at least BG will keep coming until the problem is solved wheras it only takes 3 independant engineers to try to fix a fault without success and you've spent that same £180. BG will not take a dirty system onto contract without a powerflush and neither would anyone else.
