Moved into a new flat 3 months ago, and in the last couple of weeks the boiler has started playing up.

The lock out warning light keeps coming on whilst running the hot water, some times this doesnt happen for several days and other times it happens after only a few seconds of running the hot water.
The central heating is working fine. I have bled all the radiators and the water pressure is correct.

any advice would be appreciated.

thanks

Erve,

Does the hw water run when you call for demand? Does it get hot? When you reset does it happen again as soon as you call for HW?

yes the water does get hot.
After reset the light does sometimes come straight back on as soon as you try to use hot water, other times it doesnt come back on for maybe a day or two, Although increasingly the former seems to be the case more often.

Ok, i am not an authority on boiler repairs so others on here maybe better placed to help you but here are a few ideas the symptoms point to.....partially blocked DHW heat exchanger, faulty stat on HW pipe side. Does the flow rate out of your HW taps appear unaffected when you use HW?

It will not be any of those things above.

The fault is an ignition lockout but all investigations for that should be done by a competent CORGI. If they say that you need a new fan then contact me before agreeing to that as it may not be necessary.

Hi Tony,

Geez experience counts eh. Question. Would this be pcb related then if CH is firing and working fine?

ok, cheers tony. What sort of money are we talking about, should a new fan be necassary?

It could be caused by several things but my expectation is that no new parts will be necessary!

We charge a fixed price diagnostic fee of £84 in our local area and £106 for the fan but I dont expect thats necessary.

oh thats good news. Thanks again tony, and thanks powell.

Tony can you recomend anyone in the bournemouth or dorset area to get to do this? I only ask because ive noticed that you have advised a few others on this forum about reputable gas plumbers.
if not not no worries.

cheers guys!

We always recommend Kevin but I think he is based in the Christchurch area.

Hinton Heating seem to have a good reputation but may only do instals.

thats fine, christchurch is only 10 mins from my place. Do you have any contact details for him.

cheers
