Basically I do intend on powerflushing the system but as I only replaced the plate HE a year ago and was assured it would take a fair while to clog up again, I would rather find a way to clean it this time rather than spending another £90 on a new one.

Your system has been dirty for over a year!

Do you really think that you are ever going to get it power flushed?

It should have been done at the same time as the new plate HE was fitted a year ago.

With all due respect all I am asking is if it is possible to clean the plate HE rather than replace it.
Please read my previous thread as to why it has already been replaced and why the system wasn't flushed etc.
Bacically I am getting hot and cold water again.
Thank you.

You should read again about cleaning the system or fitting a filter to stop it happening again! Or just clean the old one ready to change it back in the future. Dont let it dry out deal with it now!

Tony

I see that i gave you that good advice at the end of your previous posting!

I did not see any reason quoted for not cleaning the system then so as predicyed the plate has blocked again.

If you search for postings on cleaning plates on this site you will find many about the subject.

Please clean the system or fit a magnetic filter to stop the plate getting blocked up yet again.

Tony

As the boiler should be about 3-4 years old then its taken this long to get to this state so should be at least that long before it blocks again.

Thank you but this was also the advise you gave me. I'm not here to split hairs but I just wan't to know what to do now. If I clean the system and leave the plate HE in position will that get cleaned enough as well, or will it be easier to take it off and clean it (with some sort of acid as I have picked up on so far), and fit a filter. If you do also have any of the links of the top of your head rather than me trudge through them all I would be very grateful.
Thank you very much. :D

It blocked a year ago so could be predicted to block again in a year.

I dont keep links in my head but this site lists similar topics at the botton of the post viewing page.

As you access each one it brings up more links to look at.

FFS Why not just answer the guy , take it out and soak it in x800/ferroquest , do this for a few hours at a time and rinse it out,and repeat , soaking it in distilled white vinegar over night will also clean it.

Thank you very much. At last someone that can just give an answer to a simple question :D
