Biasi riva or Baxi Main 105

Guys im new to this so apologies for any dumbness in advance. ive seen prev thread abt biasi v baxi, but tht was 3 years old

basically my ravenheat boiler is nackard and parts too expensive. i live in 3 bedroom house. i can pick up a biasi rivo or riva (whatever it is), 32kw for about £649. the Baxi Main 105 for about £505 31kw. (both without the flu).

which one do i go for? the Baxi one is a band B, ive been told you cabn only install band A now.. is this correct? and how much of difference is there between Band A and B

You've already answered your own question, the Baxi can't be installed so of the two the Biasi is the one to go for. You won't find many Biasi fans on here though, Agile is a huge supporter of them but he's one of the very few, a lot of people will come on here and tell you it's a turd. I have zero personal experience of them so I can't comment either way. If at all possible you might be better off stretching your budget a little to get something better.

thnx muggles.. out of curiosity why are stores still selling band B when they cant be installed.. or are they doing something illeagal

well both my brother have got biasi. one has has had it for 3 years and the other for 4 years and have not had any trouble whatsoever.

if i do go for biasi.. 24kw or 32kw??

when you say strech the budget and get somet better, what can u suggest and how much, thanks

It's not illegal to sell them, you just can't fit them. No doubt there's some cowboy installers out there still putting them in, but they shouldn't be. As for the power of your Biasi, or any other combi, you need to go for the one that most closely matches your incoming mains flow rate. If your mains can't provide the full flow a 32kw is capable of delivering, there's no point having it, you may as well have the 24kw. If the mains can keep up, go for the highest power you can.

My choice would be an Intergas Combi Compact HRE, again with the power matched to your incoming mains. Dan Robinson will be along in a minute to tell you to get the Atmos InterCombi...it's basically the same thing with a different badge on it and a few minor changes, but the working principle is the same, and they're a completely different design to all other combi boilers on the market. You'll be looking at around £800 depending on the model.

The Biasi Advance M110 is a very good premix boiler! About £640.

The M296 is a tweeked Band B boiler to achieve 90% efficiency so reaches Band A. Its a conventional boiler so more stable and reliable than the premix. Prices start at £500 !

The Intergas is very new but also seems good with a five year warrantee. More like £800-£900. Very limited availability from stock. In fact currently none at all in North London. I have to go to Swindon 80 miles away to collect one tomorrow.

PS I am not one of only a few who like Biasi boilers. But I am aware that PROVIDING they are correctly installed on a totally clean system then Biasi boilers are extremely reliable.

The intergalactic is a bit steep for me tbh. The biasi I'm looking at Biasi Riva Advance 32HE Combi Boiler. Us this from ur experience any good or is it same as the ones u mentioned above.

P.s. how would I know what my incoming mains flow rate is

You have to measure the dynamic flow rate.

Wow, so you've been advised to go for a Biasi, and have decided to go for a Baxi. What exactly was the point of you coming on here, apparently wasting peoples' time!? May your replacement parts be as expensive as they usually are from Baxi...

a bit harsh with ur last comment you not think muggles. i came on here for merely advice/opionion not a decision.

as you had kindly advised me earlier (and i had mentioned my self also), that because the baxi 105 was a band B i couldnt really go for that one. so as you advised AT THE TIME i had no choice but the Biasi. but when i got to the shop i saw the baxi 30 eco model. unfortunately i didnt have time to stand in the shop and post on the forum and wait for advice. so i spoke to the guy in the shop who had 20 years experience who kindly advised on going for this model as it ws a band A and had 2 years warranty also, and whole load of other benefits/features. he didnt advise against the Biasi, but due to the popularity of the Baxi i went for that modek

I repair quite a few and wonder if their reliability is less good.

But then I dont know how many are installed.

We did not hear the price paid but I would have said the Biasi M296 would have been better value!
