Hi, We have a several big cracks in the render of our property, it is 8 years old.

We do have NHBC coming to look at them shortly but keen to be armed with some knowledge before they come. Can anyone provide any advice? My main concerns are the horizontal crack which is on the gable end and goes across the full width of the house. There is also a big diagional crack at the front of the property.

Any advice welcome and tips on dealing with NHBC. I am hoping they bring a big ladder to inspect it properly as they are very high up...

Thanks in advance for any support & knowledge :)

Nothing unusual. Id fill and paint then see how that works out.
.

They are unusual, and the horizontal gable crack, and the one between the window and door suggest cracking to the wall behind.

That straight diagonal crack on the gable is very odd. The horizontal shades across it every 2 courses are typical of crack stitching. But how or why the crack is dead straight is bizarre.

OP,
Its definitely not usual.
For instance, the gable cracks could possibly be day-join cold cracks but why day-join work would be needed or done in such small patches near the pediment apex is also unusual.
Professional gangs of plasterers would have scaff'ed up the whole gable, and not worked stopping and starting?
Without knowing more about wall construction, materials & how the job was done its hard to say much more.

OP, do come back after the NHBC & tell us what they said.
If you are on an estate, are any other renders cracking?
