Big dent in my kitchen wall

I've got this quite big dent in my kitchen wall. It's 10" by 10" and around 2" deep at its deepest point. Does anyone have any advice on what the best way to fill it would be?

That's not a dent.

I would use sand/cement mix to fill mostly, then plaster or light filler over the top to smooth and level.

You can usually fill big holes with mortar.

Thanks for the advice. I taped up the pipe then filled it with mortar, which seems to have worked out OK.
