hi all,
i have starting preparing for my week off of work when I will be decorating the lounge, stairway and landing..

I have plasterboard walls throughout.

Getting carpet put down in the week after next, so have pulled up the laminate flooring already.

I'll be adding a few more sockets and relocating some of them so I'll need to do a bit of filling in the plasterboard.

A few questions:
Do I need to seal the filler afterwards before painting? I'm worried that the filler will absorb moisture frmo the paint and then stand proud of the surface of the plasterboard.

Also, is it a case of painting ceiling first, then woodwork then walls?

Do I need to install the skirting boards with a slight gap beneath them?
I have a concrete floor in one room and floorboards in it the others. They'll all be getting carpet laid.

thanks for all your help

1. No...just dust it off after you have rubbed it down...if theres loads of it then id thin the paint slightly first..ratio of 3 paint 1 water

2. Close......ceiling, walls then wood work...this might seem harder on the edges of the door frames but is a whole lot easier when it comes to the skirtings.

3. Sorry im not a carpenter....but id say no.....you could end up with draughs.

And dont forget...with the bare wood.....knot, prime, fill, sand, undercoat......topcoat

For "draught", read "distributed ventilation".
