Yesterday My wife and I took our dog to the vet, we left at 10.30 and arrived at 11.00am in East Grinstead.

It absolutely hammered down and when we got to the car park the halestones started, the biggest ones were bigger than a marble, it was so heavy we couldn’t get out the car.

When we did get out the ground was covered in ice balls, it was well slippery.

Were you well bricking it? ;)

It was a bit stressful, we were a few minutes late for the appointment at the vets, but we couldn’t ring from the car because it was unbelievably loud

My wife was driving and it was absolutely hammering down, she was proper scared….which wasn’t good for my nerves.

Were any cars damaged? In the early 90s I was in South Africa not long after they had hailstones the size of golf balls. Any car that wasn't under cover suffered small dents all over roof, bonnet and boot. It was a good time to own a car bodywork repair business.

Ive experienced similar in texas.

Car windscreens smashed, body panels dented, even house roof's holed. I wouldnt have wanted to be outside. I don't know of any cases but a direct hit could possibly have killed people.

Witnessed the same in Sydney...

The boss where I was working drove his Porsche straight into the covered factory entrance...

Next day 'Hail Sales' started appearing at car lots!

I suspect this was a squall caused by the Tornado that ripped through Hampshire.

One thing that occurred...................................how did you get on in Texas?

It's very right wing, red meat, red blooded, alpha male and gun owning - where their weapons often do the talking. Were you there on holiday? Or did you take a wrong turn on your way to The Hamptons?

I imagine you may have had to suppress all of your natural instincts, and bite your tongue a lot? ;);)

I remember my sisters going to the shops in the 70s and there was a massive hail storm. Very large and very painful, and lots of cars dented!

I was amazed the car wasn’t dented, the halestones were around the size of acorns or marbles
