Binding new block and beam extension to slab

Hi,
Currently digging out in preparation for putting footings in, and I was wondering if anyone could offer me some advice on how I could\would bind the block and beam extension to a current\existing slab?

The architect who drew up my plans assumed I was putting a slab in but for speed and preference I would like to go with a block and beam base. Attached is the current state of the project.
