I have a ventilation strip down one side of my roof in the middle of the fascia board which is hard by the wall (no soffit). It is two inches high and around thirty feet long. Jackdaws have taken up residency in the loft but I have succeeded in limiting their ingress to the first two feet. I have tried stuffing chicken wire in the gap but, working as a team it took two jackdaws a matter of moments to shuffle along the gutter and pull it out. I put more in and deeper, they called in reinforcements, the outcome was the same. A roofer has suggested using cut down plastic ventilated soffit boards screwed in place at a cost of £650 but I think that jackdaws beaks will be a match for plastic Any suggestions?

At the builders yard I use you can buy wall plate straps in lengths up to 8' that has lots of holes?
