Hi,

I have a bath like this to fit.

balterley-elipse-junior-freestanding-bath

Problem is how do I connect the waste when the bath reaches the floor.

The waste does not bend upward enough for me to conenct it with teh bath raised enought to get my hand under it....eeek!!!

There is obviosuly some trick (other than don't let our wife buy such a daft bath :)

Connect as much of the waste as you can before lowering the bath in place....I've only done one of these in my life and it was a nightmare, involving lifting some of the adjacent floorboards to get me hands in.
John :)

Problem is the floor is tiled.....arse......... other suggestions....

1). Take up the floor.

2). Make a hole in the ceiling below.

3). Use a waste fitting that fixes to the bath from inside the tub. Assemble and position everything accurately under the floor, including the parts of the waste fitting that are 'outside' the tub. Possibly use some odd bits and pieces like bent wire coathangers, foam rubber or scraps of fibreglass insulation as temporary supports for the pipework that are stiff enough to to hold everything in place, but easily bent if necessary to achieve the final alignment. Stick gaskets to the joint faces with a thin smear of LSX, then plonk the tub over the fitting and clamp everything up. It sounds a bit 'poke and hope', but if it does leak, then it automatically applies option 2).

Eek!!!!

Don't fancy taking up the floor and all the marble flooring,

Option 3 seems to be the only option.

shame you can't get a more flexible connection.

I think I may actually love you.

:)

Youa re a gentalmen and a scholar.... may choirs of whinged angels carry you to your rest.

Order!!!!

Unfortunately, manufacturers only make these lovely items so that they look good in a showroom, with no practical access. A bit like vanity units with no space for pipe work.

I fitted one exactly like that a couple of months ago, bit of a challenge but the way I did it was with a flexi waste and a square hole below the bath and then had an access hatch made in the ceiling below which was ok because it was a utility room, but you need to be able to get to it to make the final connection or in case of any leaks...good luck :)
